Art

Art is taught for a lesson a week each half-term. The children follow a progressive curriculum to develop their skills and knowledge. They learn to paint, draw and use other media to create art. They learn about the lives of artists and their work.

We have received the Silver Arts Award and are currently working on our Gold Award. We also have trained teachers who are basic skills assessors. Our younger children have the opportunity to receive the basic skills award Explore in Art through a club and all our Year Four children work towards the Discover Basic Skills Award.

We have invited an artist into our school to paint a mural which is on display in our Agora. We felt it was important for children to see a painting created over time.

As a school we are also very fortunate to have some talented staff members who then worked with some of our children to create our very own school mural to show all the animal class names in our school. This is on display outside the headteachers office.
