Art

At our school, art is a vibrant part of our curriculum, with weekly lessons each half-term. Our progressive curriculum nurtures children's skills and knowledge, allowing them to explore painting, drawing, and various other media. They also delve into the fascinating lives and works of renowned artists.

We are proud to offer an intervention called Artscape, where Jeavons Wood teachers provide initial inspiration and support in extending ideas and practical making. This community-led provision, 'Branching Out - Artscape', aligns with our Trust's Broad Education and Community Principles, offering extra mental health and well-being support. These weekly sessions in our Forest Area provide a safe space for children to express themselves creatively using nature-inspired drawing and sculptural methods, fostering authentic experiences that support their social-emotional goals.

Our early years students enjoy the Drawing and Scribble Club, which encourages their creativity and artistic expression from a young age and supports their writing development.

Moreover, we are incredibly fortunate to have talented staff members who collaborated with our students to create a beautiful school mural, showcasing the animal class names. This masterpiece is proudly displayed outside the headteacher's office (seen below).

We continue to sustain and create opportunities to support all our children by working collaboratively across the trust. For example, our Year 6 children participated in a project run alongside Cambourne Village College, where they explored and reminisced about the wonderful times they had at Jeavons Wood before starting Year 7. These collaborations help ease the transition process and foster a sense of community and continuity for our students.
