Jeavons Wood Primary School is a very special place where all staff strive to do the very best for all the children in their care and support them socially and academically.
As we all know, the experiences a child has during the first eight or so years of their life impact enormously on the kind of person they will become in the future. A significant proportion of this time is spent at school so it is crucial that we do absolutely everything we can to get things right. What do we mean by 'right'?
From an educational point of view, it's about creating an enabling environment and delivering a stimulating curriculum through which all children can become enthusiastic and highly competent learners.
We want more than just that. We want to ensure that our school is a place where everyone can experience a whole range of successes and where children are enabled to become confident individuals who are independent and creative in their thinking.
We want to establish a climate of care and consideration in which children respect one another and enjoy learning about each other's achievements. We want to foster an ethos underpinned by strong moral values that will provide children with an exemplary model for living.
We do this by working closely with parents and the wider community.
Our school is a two-form entry with 420 children on our roll. We also have a pre-school and before and after school club which are run by the school. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful building with extra space to learn for all year groups. All year groups also have outside learning space. Our grounds are extensive and include a small wood for Forest Schools with different zones for children, including a trim trail.
We have regular tours of our school for prospective parents where you can see the school in action and meet me. There are also plenty of opportunities for existing parents to see the school during a working day. We look forward to welcoming you all.
